Instructor Loren Doucette, who holds a BFA in painting and drawing from Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, will lead a two-day workshop on flower painting and drawing. In this course, students find the bones, feeling, and rhythm of the floral still life as the first step to developing a composition. Once the main gesture and relationships are established, students will block in fields of color and value while pushing notes of color against each other. Invention, imagination and a sense of “synthesis” will be invited. Expressing the “beingness” of the still life will be key and personal expression and exploration will be highly encouraged.

Students can work in pastel, watercolor, gouache, acrylic or oil. A supply list for materials will be provided upon registration.
