Collections Fund

The Cape Ann Museum is fortunate to announce significant strides in strengthening its collection through its Collections Fund. The fund has proven invaluable over the years, allowing the Museum to purchase artwork, artifacts, and archival materials, as well as enabling for professional conservation of objects, ensuring their long-term preservation. 2025 marked the 150th anniversary of the Museum’s founding. The institution remains eager to strengthen its Collections Fund in support of its mission.

The Museum is pleased to announce its most recent acquisition, made possible by past and current contributions to the Collections Fund, that will help secure Morgan Faulds Pike’s plaster model for the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Memorial. Commissioned by the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association in 1991, the larger-than-life bronze memorial was designed to honor the generations of women who played an integral, though often underrecognized, role in the fishing industry. The finished sculpture, installed at Stacy Boulevard in Gloucester Harbor, is a symbol of resilience and community.

As the Museum works toward completing this acquisition, we invite all members of the community to contribute to the final phase of this project. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated and will help secure this significant piece of Cape Ann’s history for future generations.
