Local writers Ken Riaf and David Rich will read passages from the novels of Gloucester’s Jonathan Bayliss (1926–2009) relating to his beloved city’s downtown in the last century. Bayliss’s fiction trilogy Gloucesterbook, Gloucestertide, and Gloucestermas includes numerous descriptions of the landscape—geographical, political, and cultural—of “Dogtown” on “Cape Gloucester” in the 1960s and 1970s, with flashbacks to earlier times. This one-hour program is the start of the first annual conference of the newly formed Jonathan Bayliss Society. The reading is free to the public; no registration necessary.
