First Fridays: Art After Hours
with Joel Herzfeld

Enjoy free admission to the Cape Ann Museum every First Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Each month, CAM partners with a practicing, contemporary artist to interpret the Museum’s collections. Watch art come to life through dance, music, performance, painting, and more. This April, CAM is excited to welcome Joel Herzfeld, a handbalancer and cyr artist based in Boston, USA.

Herzfeld has performed around the world. With Les 7 Doigts De La Main, he toured the United States and Japan in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of ‘Pippin.’ He has also performed with the prestigious Circus Roncalli in Germany. At sea, Herzfeld performed on some of the world’s top-ranked cruise ships, including on the flagships of the Celebrity Cruises and AIDA Cruises fleets. Some of his corporate clients have included Facebook, Hendrick’s Gin, Six Flags and Audi. Joel recently returned home from a US tour with the Grand Shanghai Circus, featuring members of the celebrated Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe.

Teaching is Herzfeld’s other great passion. Before running off to join the circus, he studied Education at Brandeis University, earning his Teacher’s License in Secondary English. He recently earned his license in Mathematics as well. When not performing, Herzfeld can be found coaching circus online and at local circus institutions.
