Dance through the galleries with free admission to the Cape Ann Museum every First Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm! Each month, CAM partners with Rockport Brewing Co for a free beer tasting from their Heritage Series inspired by works from the Museum’s collections.

This January, dance your way into the new year with DJ Josh Byrnes and Sarah Slifer Swift from MAGMA (Movement Arts, Gloucester, MA). Josh Byrnes aka DJ Elevator Man has been DJing for 30 years. He DJed for 20 years in NYC nightclubs both large and small.  Whether on a big sound system playing electro and breakbeat or in a smaller room doing a funk and rock 45 set, Josh loves to get the crowd moving.

From 6:00 – 6:30 pm, MAGMA Director Sarah Swift will lead a New Year Warm Up to kick start the evening’s ongoing dance party in the CAM Auditorium. MAGMA is a center for movement practices where people of all ages can discover, develop, and create in a broad curriculum of movement styles. Slifer Swift has been on faculty at Boston Ballet School, Salem State University, George Washington University, Amsterdam College of Art/School for New Dance Development, Scotland’s National Center for Dance (Dance Base), and Liza Indiciani Studio of Dance. She performed as a dancer with several dance companies and choreographers in the US and in Europe, seeking out radical, experimental work that challenged ideas about performance and aesthetics.
