Love Knot Earrings
Arts of the Sailor, Hand-tied in Maine
The Love Knot is one of the family of stopper knots, and was traditionally tied at the end of rope to secure it through a hole in the ship’s rail. A rope so secured was called a Manrope and provided a handhold for anyone boarding the ship. Each Love Knot Earring was hand-tied in Maine from cotton seine line and then treated by a special process to preserve and harden it. These Love Knot Earrings are mounted on surgical steel posts.
