Gloucester Daily Times: Museum welcomes two new trustees

The Cape Ann Museum in Gloucester has welcomed two women to its board of trustees.
They are Allison Mueller, a Gloucester native and current Rockport resident; and Dr. Lindsay Pearce Cowan, a resident of Gloucester’s Annisquam section.
“Allison and Lindsay make excellent additions as advocates for Cape Ann Museum,” museum Director Oliver Barker said in a museum announcement about the appointments. “Their expertise will be an asset as the museum continues moving toward its next chapter with a broadening reach and expanded relevance within the Cape Ann community and beyond.”
“Through the museum’s next phase of growth, Allison and Lindsay will bring vital experience, commitment and fresh perspectives,” Henrietta Gates, chair of the museum’s trustees, said in the statement.
Mueller grew up in Gloucester, attended Gloucester public schools, and holds Bachelors of Psychology and Sociology from Marquette University, and a master’s degree in teaching from Simmons College.
She is active volunteer in a variety of North Shore nonprofit organizations, serving on the board of Pathways for Children and as vice chair on the board of Backyard Growers. Mueller volunteers and has held leadership roles in other organizations including Wellspring House, Awesome Gloucester, and Brookwood School.
Cowan was born at Addison Gilbert Hospital, attended Glen Urquhart School, Pingree School, and then Bowdoin College for a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and graduated summa cum laude.
A graduate of Dartmouth Medical School, Cowan did her residency in the Harvard system including a one-year internship at Cambridge Hospital, four years of radiology residency at Mount Auburn Hospital, and a one-year fellowship in abdominal imaging and intervention at Brigham. Cowan works with Beverly Radiology Associates and covers Addison Gilbert and Beverly Hospitals.
This year, the Cape Ann Museum is hosting exhibitions and programs year-round at its CAM Green campus, 13 Poplar St. in Gloucester. CAM Green has expanded weekly hours, free admission, and timed ticketing to welcome more visitors to experience the space while the museum’s downtown campus on Pleasant Street is closed for extensive renovations to improve visitor access and engagement.
