Working with free-lance photographer and former Boston Globe reporter, David Arnold of Boston and Gloucester, the Cape Ann Museum presented a special exhibition entitled QuarryArt exploring the majesty of Cape Ann’s many quarries. The exhibit was held at the Janet & William Ellery James Center and was on view from June 10 through July 30, 2023.
The nine photographers whose works was featured in the exhibition are Tsar Fedorsky, Albert Glazier, Paul Cary Goldberg, Skip Montello, Olivia Parker, Martin Ray, Katherine Richmond, Steve Rosenthal and Constance Vallis. Each spent time shooting quarries in the area at various times of year. Together, their works capture the beauty of the sites as they exist today, while reminding us of the quarries economic importance of a century ago.
