The Cape Ann Museum’s archival collection is extraordinarily vast and touches on a broad range of subjects. Included in it is an important collection of early psalm books containing sacred songs and poems used in worship. They represent some of the oldest books in the Museum’s holdings and were important to the region’s earliest English settlers who called upon their religious beliefs regularly as they sought to make their way here in New England.
