In this four-week painting course at the Cape Ann Museum Green, explore the beautiful landscape of Cape Ann with Gloucester artist Loren Doucette. Students will work from observation, synthesizing the information seen on the landscape through their own creative expression.

This workshop will start with the importance of observational drawing from nature. It will include focus on value, pattern and rhythm while highlighting the use of color. Exploration and experimentation will be encouraged. This class is suitable for both realistic and more experimental artists who would like to learn how to respond to the landscape through their art.

Students of all levels are encouraged to apply. Please come with the media you feel most comfortable using. Suggested media options include: acrylic, oil, chalk pastel, oil pastel, or watercolor. You can also use a mix of dry and wet media. A suggested supply list will be sent out prior to the event.
