Free Fun Fridays 2019
Friday, June 28
10:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
Community Programs, Youth and Family Programs
The Museum will be free and open to the public all day as part of the Highland Street Foundation’s Free Fun Fridays, a program offering visitors no cost admission to many of the most treasured cultural venues in Massachusetts on select summer days.
This year, at the Cape Ann Museum, Free Fun Friday will celebrate the rich fishing heritage of Cape Ann. Visitors will be invited to explore our maritime fisheries exhibitions, see centuries of maritime art on view in our galleries, watch historic film footage documenting the fishing industry, listen to stories about local fishermen and create art & crafts inspired by the industry. June 28th also coincides with the popular St. Peter’s Fiesta, a community wide celebration honoring the patron saint of the fishermen, a tradition started by Gloucester’s Sicilian immigrant population.
This program was created to increase access and enrichment opportunities for children and families throughout Massachusetts during the summer months. Every Friday, from the end of June through the end of August, multiple sites are open for free.
Please visit highlandstreet.org/programs/free-fun-fridays-2019 for a full list of participating institutions.
Note: In anticipation of large crowds at this popular event, docent-led gallery tours are cancelled and the Captain Elias Davis House will be closed.
