Lecture by T. M. Nicholas & Stapleton Kearns

Stapleton Kearns and T. M. Nicholas have spent most of their lifetimes studying the artists of the Cape Ann School of painting. In this lecture they will show works by Aldro Hibbard, Lester Stevens, Emile Gruppe, Anthony Thieme, Jane Peterson and more, dissecting their compositions and digging down into how they created their paintings, noting commonalities that constitute the "Cape Ann style."

Offered in conjunction with the special exhibition Tom and T. M. Nicholas: A Father and Son’s Journey in Paint on view at the Cape Ann Museum through April 12, 2020.
