Amy Sudarsky returns to the Cape Ann Museum this spring for Introduction to Drawing Still Life. Working from simple, everyday objects, students will address the A-B-C’s of good drawing: proportion, perspective, volume and composition. To explore each of these 4 skills, there will be a different still life set up for each class. For the final two classes, students will make one extended drawing which will bring it all together. This course is suited to all levels, no prior drawing experience is required.
Amy Sudarsky is a figurative painter who has exhibited in Boston, New York and San Francisco. For more than 35 years, she has taught painting and drawing courses at Boston University, The Art Institute of Boston, Washington University, and Lesley University. In 2018, she curated the exhibition “In Her Own Image; Self Portraits by Women 1900-2018,” at the Concord Center for the Arts. In 2020, she was the juror for “Beyond Likeness: Exploring the Portrait” at Rocky Neck Art Colony. Her studio is in Allston, MA.
