Celebrate the Season with Song!

Guitarist Ken Bonfield performs a solo concert of seasonal guitar instrumentals drawn from traditional arrangements as well as modern compositions inspired by the winter solstice. This program is free for members or with Museum admission.

The 60- to 90-minute solo concert will feature traditional music of the British Isles, Celtic compositions, American folk music and original works – all performed on custom-built harp, baritone, and high string guitars.  As one reviewer put it, “…warm and charming at times, haunting and enchanting at others, Bonfield’s collection of both original music and tried and true winter classics is a pleasure to listen to…”

Bonfield is an internationally recognized performer and composer of American fingerstyle acoustic guitar played on guitars of his own design and commissioned from master luthier Alan Carruth. He has toured throughout North America over his 20+ year career and has seen the release of seven critically acclaimed instrumental CDs. In his concerts, workshops and master classes, he shares new guitar dimensions and ventures on sonic explorations. His compositions are performed with his “chamber ensemble ” of handcrafted instruments ranging from a standard 6-string guitar to an 11-string harp guitar, two baritone guitars, and a high-string guitar. Bonfield’s work and calling is inspired by a deep love for the beauty, the sounds, and the craft of the acoustic guitar.
