Join Cape Ann Museum curator Martha Oaks and director of public programs Courtney Richardson on a narrated walking tour of Gloucester’s historic Oak Grove Cemetery.

Oak Grove Cemetery was laid out and constructed in 1854–1855. In contrast to earlier graveyards, Oak Grove Cemetery, with its winding paths and specimen trees, was envisioned to be a sanctuary for the living as well as the dead. Today it is the resting place for many of Cape Ann’s most illustrious citizens including famed master mariner Ben Pine, opera singer Emma Abbott and noted American artist Fitz Henry Lane.

Tour meets at the entrance to Oak Grove Cemetery, 177 Washington Street in Gloucester (on street parking available). Cost is $10 for CAM members; $20 nonmembers.
