Texas based software inventor, Tim Jenison, attempts to determine how 17th century Dutch master Johannes Vermeer managed to paint such accurate representations of space, light and detail, and whether he may have relied on any sort of optical device. To test his theory Jenison sets out to recreate a Vermeer painting using current technology and little or no artistic skill. Over the course of a decade, Jenison’s obsession takes him to Holland, to the North coast of Yorkshire and eventually to Buckingham Palace, to see the Queen’s Vermeer.
