Howard L. Resnikoff presents an illustrated talk about one of Captain Elias Davis’ adventures. Filled with largely forgotten local details and people, the material for this presentation is drawn from The Riddle of the Rambler, Resnikoff’s forthcoming book about the world-wide adventures of three merchant brigs from Gloucester and Boston and the men who owned and sailed them. Set against the background of the early days of the United States and the aftermath of the Napoleonic War, it offers a glimpse into another age.
