Sylvester Ahola remains one of the most prolific musicians Cape Ann has ever produced. “Hooley,” as he was called by friends and family, played lead trumpet with more than a dozen bands in the U.S. and England during the 1920’s and ’30’s. He is estimated to have made over 2,000 recordings and is regarded as one of the most influential recording artists in the history of American jazz. 

The Museum is proud to present a special screening of Hooley’s home movies, eight reels comprised of  footage both from his travels abroad and life here on Cape Ann. There will be an encore showing on March 23 at 11:00 a.m. Both programs are free and open to the public.
