This midday mini-concert & instrument demonstration will be performed on the Adams harpsichord and chamber organ by Kathleen and Jeremy Adams. Audience members are invited to join Kathleen and Jeremy in the special exhibition, Voicing the Woods: Jeremy Adams, Instrument Maker, on view at the Cape Ann Museum from October 22, 2016 through February 26, 2017, for an intimate musical experience.

Kathleen is Organist and Choirmaster at the Annisquam Village Church in Gloucester where she also teaches piano, organ, and singing.  She studied vocal performance at the American Conservatory in Chicago and organ and conducting at Harvard University.  An active member of the American Guild of Organists and an advocate for young musicians, she chaired the Guild’s Young Organists Initiative for a number of years while also working at Fisk Organbuilders in Gloucester. Jeremy studied music at the Longy School in Cambridge where his mentor, Melville Smith, was Director. Smith’s advocacy (and the school’s antique harpsichord) led to apprenticeships with William Dowd (harpsichord) and Charles Fisk (organ).  In 1969 he opened his own workshop on the north shore.  This exhibition features instruments from his remarkable career, and is augmented by selections of his furniture shown in the Captain Elias Davis House.
