Offered in conjunction with the special exhibition, Voicing the Woods: Jeremy Adams, Instrument Maker, this midday mini-concert & instrument demonstration will be performed by organist and harpsichordist Carolyn Day Skelton and organist John Skelton.

The Skeltons have enjoyed impressive careers in both religious and academic venues and are known for their solo and duo performances throughout New England. The two met in Germany studying organ with Anton Heiller, whose influence has informed both their playing and their teaching. Carolyn’s long tenure as Organist and Choirmaster at Phillips Academy in Andover achieved a high level of musicmaking heard in the Addison Art Museum, the Chapel at Phillips, and other desirable venues on the campus there.  For a number of years, she also served as organist for the summer chapel, Emmanuel Church, in Manchester by the Sea.  

John’s career has included posts as Music Director and Choirmaster in several large churches (most recently at Maple Street Congregational Church in Danvers) and as a professor of music at the University of New Hampshire.  He is a Trustee of the famous Methuen Music Hall Organ, and chairs the program committee for their renowned organ recital series. Both Carolyn and John hold leadership positions with the American Guild of Organists and serve widely as mentors to young organists.
