This walking tour visits the specific sites where American realist painter Edward Hopper (1882-1967) completed paintings in the area of Gloucester known as Portuguese Hill. The approximate locations where watercolors painted by Josephine Nivison Hopper (1883-1968), at her husband’s side, are also viewed. Known primarily as Edward Hopper’s wife, Jo Nivison had gained recognition for her artwork long before her future husband’s success. The hillside neighborhood they travelled together also offers up some interesting insights into Gloucester history.
