Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop
April 29, 2017 @ 10:30 am
April is national poetry month!
Discover new ways to think and talk about art in this hands on poetry workshop led by former North Andover poet laureate Gayle Heney. For those not familiar with the term, an ekphrastic poem is a vivid description of a scene or, more commonly, a work of art. In this workshop, participants will use the Museum’s collections as inspiration, concentrating on paintings in the new exhibition Charles Movalli: Cape Ann & Beyond. As time and interest allow, participants will be introduced to poetry prompts, formal elembents and styles. Discussion of the editing process and the option to read/perform may also be included.
$10 CAM members/ $20 nonmembers (includes Museum admission). Space is limited; reservations required. For more information email [email protected]. Tickets can be purchased online at Eventbrite or by calling (978) 283-0455 x10.
