*From the Poetry Foundation website: An ekphrastic poem is a vivid description of a scene or, more commonly, a work of art. Through the imaginative act of narrating and reflecting on the “action” of a painting or sculpture, the poet may amplify and expand its meaning.

Steven Kennedy has a Master of Fine Arts from San Francisco State University. Before moving to the Bay Area, he attended Gordon College, lived in Beverly and worked at Manchester By the Book as a bookseller. He is a writer and editor for Fielder’s Choice Magazine, while his poetry and prose have appeared in various journals. His first novel, Birds of Massachusetts, won the 2020 Michael Rubin Book Award and will be published in December by Fourteen Hills.
