Introduction to Oil Painting is a methodical approach to beginning, developing, and finishing an oil painting using water soluble oil paints. Students will learn ways to employ the materials at each stage of the painting. Exercises in paint mixing are offered at the outset to enable students to enter the painting process with confidence. Students will begin with a limited palette focusing on tonal relationships then use this experience to move onto a full color painting. 

Melody Phaneuf is well known for her evocative still life, landscape and portrait paintings. Her colorful oil paintings merge observation from life with imagination and memory. Her impressionistic style reveals the beauty of color and light that transforms viewers with aesthetic appeal. Melody remains influenced by her Boston School training but has formulated a personal approach to painting. Her intention is to create paintings that inspire viewers and provide a sense of well-being.
