Meets on Sundays: October 28, November 4, 11 & 18

This 4-week workshop will focus on using drawing to build skills while also creating surprising images that use close observation paired with the passage of time as their subject.

Week 1: Introduction to drawing from observation using a variety of exercises that sharpen the eye and develop tools for accuracy.

Week 2: Using composition as a creative tool, specifically the balance of negative and positive space.

Week 3: Today we will focus on light/shade/shadow using objects from the museum’s collection.

Week 4: We will end the workshop by revisiting a favorite subject and developing an image that goes beyond representation.

Taught by Jeffrey Marshall and offered in conjunction with the exhibition Gone … Fishing. This workshop will accomodate all levels and abilities, no prior art-making experience is necessary. Space is limited, reservations required. $85 CAM members / $100 nonmembers, includes materials. This 4-day workshop will take place on Sunday, October 28, November 4, 11 & 18.
