Steam Shovels, Trains, Cable Cars and More!

Saturday, December 29

11:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m. Youth and Family Programs

Celebrate local author Virginia Lee Burton with story time, playing and art making in the Children's Activity Center. For more information call 978-283-0455 x16. Both programs are free for members or with museum admission.

Join Museum staff for a reading of Burton's works:
11:30 Choo Choo
12:30 Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel
1:30 Katy and the Big Snow

Ongoing activities include:
Create your own winter scene like the one in Katy and the Big Snow with cotton balls and more. Use charcoal pencils to draw a train like the one in Choo Choo. Color and assemble your very own Maybelle the Cable Car using a straw and string. And explore how steam shovels and other construction vehicles work using miniature versions of the real thing.
